"Up from here" Chapter 18: History of Rocks4me

History of Rocks4me on May 13, 2000, I started the website Rocks4me.com Themes© and my first product that I had printed were T-Shirts. And the first T-Shirt theme was "Jesus Rocks4me©". Put God and the Lord first in my business and my life a year ago when I had the first "Jesus Rocks4me"© T-Shirts printed. On the back of the T-shirts I had the words printed "seek ye first the Kingdom of God, then all things will be added to you accordingly©" Matt 6:33 "But "seek" first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you."

Over the past two years since I first came up with the theme idea of "Rocks4me"© my website changed many times from first being a site to try and promote the theme idea of Rocks4me© and then a political site during the last 2000 presidential election. Then a Jesus Rocks4me© theme site, back to politics again until I finally just settled on using the domain as the main domain site for many of my other interests and ideas in my business ventures.

Over eight years ago on May 19, 2001, Rocks4me.com Themes© made its first public appearance in San Francisco at the Voter's March. I had a space right next to the main stage that day. I took two of my three computers, a printer and my files to try and promote the theme idea of Rocks4me©. Like, "Being at the Voter March Rocks4me©" or "Being a Democrat Rocks4me©".

I left on the afternoon of May 18, 2001, and had rented a car from "Rent a Wreck". It was a nice car. And during that week before I ended up with the car from "Rent a Wreck" during the time I was trying to rent a car. I thought I would try and rent a car off of the Internet from a well-known nationwide car rental company. I thought I had everything set. Well, how wrong I was about that pre-planning of having a car rented ahead of time.

When I arrived to pick up the car I ran into a few snags that did not sit too well with me and I will not even take the time to give the details or discuss that situation. But the person behind the counter suggested that I try "Rent a Wreck" and I was glad I did. And once again the Lord led me on the right path.

Earlier in the week I had been at a friend's house and mentioned that I needed to rent a car. And I have known this person since 1987 or thereabouts. And in fact, at one time in the past, he was my boss at one of the local radio stations I had worked at in the early 90's while attending school at Simpson College in the DCP program there for people want to continue their education.

You would have thought if he was any kind of a true friend he would have offered to help me rent a car from the rental car company where he was employed now. But I guess that was too much to ask. But this same friend did not it seem to have a problem with calling me up on the phone when he needed help with his computer or a situation on his computer that he needed to resolve or have me help him fix it.

The next event for "Jesus Rocks4me©" was at Shasta District Fair where I rented a booth at the Fair in 2001. Where I hired two people to help me, along with Mom who would help me too.

It cost me more money than I could afford at the time trying to promote "Jesus Rocks4me©" T-shirts at the Fair. The first day I was allowed to get in and begin setting up the booth was on a Tuesday and as luck would have it I rented the same exact car from "Rent a Wreck" because I had no transportation at the time. I had ordered 200 "Jesus Rocks4me©" T-shirts in sizes small to extra large for the event at the Fair. While I was setting up the person who had the booth next to mine had not shown up yet and the people in charge of the fair came by and said if they did come to claim their spot I could use the space at no extra charge and I thought that would be a miracle and a blessing.

As my luck would have it they did show up right after I started to use their space so I had to put back everything back in the space I had rented. As my luck would have it too, that it was a Republican booth promoting Republican policies. I introduced my self and my Mom to the person in charge of the Republican booth. We got along fine as long as we kept politics out of the subject.

The people I hired did not work out too well, they both liked spending time on my computers playing around more than what they were hired to do. Hired to help me sell "Jesus Rocks4me©" T-shirts at the fair, so I terminated both of them before the fair opened. The first person I hired him after three days and the second person during her first day. They were fooling around more than working on my time, that I was paying them an hourly wage to do. Help me, not themselves from redesigning my stuff, which is not what they were being paid to do.

Mom really enjoyed talking to people when they would stop by "Jesus Rocks4me©" T-shirt booth and they loved talking to her. I had it set up like you coming to visit someone in his or her living room and having a cup of coffee, tea or soda for chitchat. It made people feel like they were at home or visiting a friend in the booth.

During the time there was one relative who stopped by to see us. It was my nephew Larry Dickinson and with his wife. Larry was my Moms grandson the oldest of the grandchild and of my nieces and nephews. A friend of mine Joel Dooley I had know since he was 12 years old when I was raising Eric Wells stopped by with his girlfriend at the time to say hello to me and Mom too.

It was an interesting experience and a costly one as I never made any money if anything I lost and went into the hole but that was nothing new at the time. An interesting story was I had left the booth to take a break and left Mom in charge. I knew she would not wander off at the time. A lady came by the booth and wanted to buy a "Jesus Rocks4me©" t-shirt for her son and Mom sold it to her and took the lady’s check. Which at the time I needed cash, not checks but that was OK my Mom knew what she was doing and trusted the person writing her the check. Funny thing about that check they lived on K-love street the same as the Christian radio broadcasting station K-Love, the same frequency I was the last radio DJ on 102.7 FM when it was known as K-FXS 102.7 FM now it was K-LOVE 102.7 FM. God works in mysterious ways as they always say, it seems. I ran into her after Mom passed away and she said she still had the "Jesus Rocks4me©" t-shirt in her closet.

The next two events were in Tulelake, California at the Economics building at the fairgrounds and a final event, which makes the fourth in Alturas on Easter Sunday at the Amphitheatre after Mom passed away in 2007, which I will write about in another chapter.

Faith in Christianity

Faith in Christianity, as in other Abrahamic religions, centers on a belief in God, a belief in the reality of a transcendent domain that God administers as his kingdom, and in the benevolence of God's will or plan for humankind. Christianity differs in that it centers on a belief in the ministry of Jesus, and in his place as the prophesied Christ, as substantiated by his Passion and Resurrection. The precise understanding of the term "faith" differs among the various Christian traditions, but this verse (John 3:16) is often used as a standard statement of Christian faith:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16, KJV)
