Klamath Falls to Eugene Spring Fling tours Round Trip

In March TBA there will be two tours on Amtrak train 14 Klamath Falls to Eugene and back again on Amtrak train 11.

One on the first Friday of March 2025, then a second one on either a Saturday or Sunday TBA without the Klamath Falls to Eugene with Docent Interpretive guides. The first trip in March will be with the Klamath County Amtrak Decents Klamath Falls to Eugene then a tour with Radio personality JgTheBoss from Mixcloud.com Radio shows in Eugene on the layover trip to Eugene with sites lined up to tour during the layover time period for a tour while in Eugene for the layover from Klamath Falls.

Leaving on Jan 11th for my third trip to Eugene on Amtrak train 14 for another test run so this time I can go on a tour at the Shelton McMurphey Johnson House just a short walk behind the Eugene Amtrak train station. https://www.hellotravel.com/united-states-of-america/shelton-mcmurphey-johnson-house

Shelton McMurphey Johnson House is situated on Willamette Street on the south side of Skinner Butte, the Shelton McMurphey Johnson House is a milestone Victorian-period house open for open visits. Worked in the Queen Anne style in 1888, it is named after the families who lived in the house throughout the years.

The house is otherwise called the "Mansion on the Hill" and is recorded on the U.S. National Register of Historical Places. The house offers a few projects for youngsters including strolling visits and hands-on exercises, and it likewise has numerous occasions and can be leased for weddings, parties, and other uncommon events.

Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House

A fairytale-like beauty has made this Victorian mansion a landmark in the city, especially as it sits perched on the slopes of Skinner Butte. The Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House was built in 1888 for a doctor. The interior décor is styled with historical artifacts, clothing, and furniture to create a sense of days gone by.

Public tours are available for anyone interested in its history, and afternoon tea and other events are often hosted at the house. Other events in this historic home include book readings, escape rooms, and a Victorian Finishing School summer camp. The Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House is just one of many buildings in Eugene listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Address: 303 Willamette Street, Eugene, Oregon

Want to visit? No advanced tickets/reservations are necessary for tours.

Klamath Falls to Eugene Trip Friday December 6th and back to Klamath Falls with JgTheboss TNT on board

Klamath Falls, Oregon- The trip on December 6th started out with checking the train arrival time from the following website for train status.

https://asm.transitdocs.com/

Because if the train is late more than an hour it does not give much time to take a tour on the layover between Amtrak trains 14 to Eugene and Amtrak train 11 returning to Klamath Falls on the same day.

Made my arrangements to be picked up by Access Taxi the same way I do on all of my Amtrak trips. I call 24 hours in advance and schedule a pickup from my apt at 321 N 5th Street apt 15 at the Granview Apartment from the middle parking lot. And also set up my return pickup when I arrive back to Klamath Falls, Oregon. I do it for all my Amtrak trips, north and south.

This was my second trip to Eugene on Amtrak, the first one I made with the Klamath County Museum Docent program. Where after my first trip with the Director, Todd as he fired me and his reasons where I did not fit their script for the Klamath Falls to Eugene Docent Interpretive Guide volunteer program. However, this was my 8th Amtrak trip since September 2023 to Portland, then Redding, Chico, then three trips to Salem looking for housing as I was trying to move to Salam, but it did not work out as planned to move there.

On my first trip to Eugene, I was thinking I could move there to so I had planned on looking there on my layover time but by the time we got to Eugene I was exhausted with all the stuff I carry on all my trips. As I never know what I may need on my trips and I scaled it down for this trip but still had allot things to carry, along with bringing my red hot-rod walker. I need it to walk great distances so I can stop and catch my breath and stand for a moment holding on to it.

I also bring with me extra water and pastries to share with those on board in case they have run out of money if they happen to be on a long trip on Amtrak. Like going from LA to Seatle or from Seatle to LA. And points in between. Alos carry the extra stuff for when I am Out and About in whatever city I may be visiting to share with the less fortunate living on the streets. I don’t like the word homeless, so I refer to them as the less fortunate among us. I have been homeless, so I know what some of them are going through. Been there and have done it too. I know what it is like to be homeless and have a couple to times and you can read all about in one or two my chapters in my book "Up from here" written by James C. Garland- April 05, 2014
